NOVAGA Chapter Meetings for October

National Cyber Security Awareness Month is observed each October since its inception in 2004 in the United States of America.  In keeping with this observance, our October 2017 speaker will be Kathryn Condello, Director, National Security/ Emergency Preparedness, CenturyLink.  Ms. Condello’s presentation is entitled “Cybersecurity: It’s a Shared Responsibility”.  I hope you can join us for this timely and relative topic that impacts each of us, no matter what our profession.  1 CPE will be provided.

Our Community Services Speaker for 10/19 will be Alzheimer’s Association® National Capital Area Chapter President, Chris Broullire. CGFM Review Session Mod 1

NOVAGA Chapter Meetings Dates and Location

The Northern Virginia Chapter of the Association of Government Accountants would like to welcome you to the 2017-2018 Program Year!

Our monthly meetings will be held mostly the third Thursday of each month with snacks and beverages starting at 5:30 PM, speakers, and dinner at 6 PM ending around 8 PM.

Our meeting dates are as follows:

  • September 28th –Our September 2017 speaker will be Ms. Heather Keister, Assistant Director in GAO’s Financial Management and Assurance Division.  Ms. Keister’s presentation is entitled “Professional Growth and Development, using John Maxwell’s 15 Laws of Growth as the foundation.”  1 CPE will be provided.  Happy Hour and heavy appetizers will be provided prior to the presentation.  I hope you can join us for this great networking and educational event!  Register HERE.

NOVAGA Spring Workshop

Friday, April 28, 2017 (7:30am – 4:30pm)

This workshop is about accounting and auditing guidance from Treasury, OMB, GAO, and FASAB applicable to the government environment.

In addition, participants will learn new management techniques and practical tips to increase efficiency in government financial operations.

CGFM Exam Review Session for Module 3, Part 1 of 2

Please join us for CGFM Exam Review Session Module 3.

This session provides instruction on all topics relating to financial management functions and financial and managerial analysis techniques. The instructors have recently passed the CGFM exam and can help with formulating a strategy to take the exams and any related questions. The format of the review session is round-table style and engaging. Each participant is encouraged to review the material in the CGFM study guide before the session to get the most out of it.

A small snack will be provided.We will meet at KPMG – 12th Floor.

Joint Meeting with Montgomery/Prince George’s County AGA Chapter

NOVAGA will have a joint meeting with Montgomery/Prince George’s County AGA Chapter on Wednesday, March 8th, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Lebanese Taverna at  7141 Arlington Road, Bethesda, MD 20814.
